Catch Every Drop - FREE Water Conservation Workshop

Residents of the Central Coast can dive right into learning important water conservation techniques on November 12, 2016, from 9 am - 2:30 pm at the Central Coast Salmon Enhancement Watershed Education Center. The local nonprofit will host a FREE, interactive, hands-on workshop teaching community members how to decrease their water consumption and cultivate a healthy environment for the Arroyo Grande Creek watershed.

In the first half of the workshop, participants will learn how to harvest rainwater for use on their own landscapes. With the help of a licensed professional, Central Coast Salmon Enhancement will demonstrate how to install rain barrels and estimate the proper size of barrel for their roof.

The second half of the workshop will focus on cultivating plants native to California. Participants will have the chance to plant California natives at the Watershed Education Center. They will learn that by doing this, they can help decrease the levels of polluted runoff entering the creek, increase insect diversity and increase soil permeability, and reduce water consumption for landscaping.

The workshop is FREE and targeted for homeowners in the city of Arroyo Grande and surrounding communities.
